Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
  • bring the paper form to the surgery, Monday to Friday from 8am to 6:30pm, and post your request into the Prescriptions locked post box, located in the foyer of all four of our surgeries

We do not routinely take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email, except for in exceptional circumstances where some more vulnerable patients have a prior arrangement in place for this.

Collecting your prescription

You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 2 to 3 working days after you have ordered it.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • at your GP practice
  • at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • phone our Care Navigation team after 10am on 01274 425 600 and they will raise the query to our pharmacy team on your behalf
  • or fill in a query form using our request platform SystmConnect Monday to Friday from 8am.  We will respond within 24 – 48 hours during opening times.

Medication reviews

If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Take the NHS Friends and Family Test

The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. Listening to the views of patients and staff helps identify what is working well, what can be improved and how.

The FFT asks people if they would recommend the services they have used and offers a range of responses.

How did we do? We’d love to hear your feedback about our services, please take a moment to complete your feedback about The Ridge Medical Practice by clicking onto our survey link just here:
