The Ridge clinical team is made up of a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians with various specialities and areas of expertise, which means that sometimes the most appropriate clinician for you to see won’t be one of our GPs. So, as well as all of our Doctors, The Ridge team includes:
Care Navigator (or receptionist)
A Care Navigator (or receptionist) is often the first person a patient meets when they visit one of our surgeries. Their role provides the first point of contact for all patients, and they act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, and other medical staff. Care Navigators are key members of the practice team, they are trained to work with all the resources available to them which may include signposting patients to another service, offering self-help advice or booking with an appropriate clinician in the practice’s multi-disciplinary team.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP)
An advanced nurse practitioner (ANP) is a nurse who has completed a master’s degree in clinical practice. ANPs have diagnostic authority and are trusted to assess, diagnose, manage, and care for patients with complex issues.
We have four ANPs in our permanent clinical team:

Physician Associates (PAs)
Physician associates (PAs) are healthcare professionals with a generalist healthcare education who work alongside doctors and surgeons providing medical care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. PAs work under the supervision of a named senior doctor (such as a named General Medical Council registered consultant or general practitioner) but can work autonomously with appropriate support.
Our PAs manage many of our long-term condition clinics and it will often be one of them, under the supervision of a GP) who carries out your annual review appointment. We currently have four PAs in our permanent clinical team:

Practice Nurses
Practice Nurses are responsible for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, such as health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, well women and well man clinics, as well as supporting the management team in the reviewing of clinical policy and procedure.
Our Nursing team runs various clinics and offer advice on a wide variety of health problems. The Ridge Nursing Team has a breadth of experience in all aspects of patient care and work across all sites.
Our general nursing sessions cover:
- Travel immunisation/advice
- Family planning advice/sexual health advice
- Cervical smears
- Injections
- Wound management
- Menopause advice/management
Healthcare Assistants (HCAs)
Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) assist doctors and nurses by nurturing and supporting patients. Their responsibilities include tasks such as blood pressure management, venepuncture (taking blood samples) recording ECGs, and health promotion (such as diet and lifestyle advice).
Our HCA Team support the clinical team and they run various clinics offering patient services including:
- Phlebotomy (Blood sample taking)
- Blood Pressure monitoring
- Wound Management
- Spirometry Testing (a test to measure lung function)
- Electrocardiogram tests (ECGs) (a test to measure the electrical activity of the heartbeat)
First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs)
First Contact Physiotherapists (FCPs) are advanced practitioners working within primary care with extensive expertise in the clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions. FCPs see patients with (suspected or diagnosed) MSK conditions as the first point of contact, instead of a GP, and can be accessed directly by contacting the practice’s reception.
Our FCPs are employed jointly across our Five Parks Primary Care Network (click here for more information about PCNs) and they have clinics accessible for all patients registered at any of those four practices.
Clinical Pharmacists
Clinical pharmacists are highly qualified experts in medicines and can help patients in a range of ways. This includes carrying out structured medication reviews for patients with ongoing health problems and improving patient safety, outcomes, and value through a person-centred approach.

Community Matrons
Community Matrons are highly experienced, senior nurses who work closely with patients (mainly those with a serious long-term condition or a complex range of conditions) in a community setting to directly provide, plan, and organise their care.

Social Prescribers
Social prescribing link workers work together with GP Practices to ensure that the wider needs of patients are addressed. They connect patients to groups, activities, and services in their communities to meet their social, emotional, and practical needs that affect their health and wellbeing. Social prescribing is a service provided by The Ridge Medical Practice where you can be helped to link with a range of local, non-medical activities, opportunities and support that can improve your health.

Mental Health Nurses
The mental health nurse’s role is pivotal in delivering holistic, high-quality care to people of all ages who are experiencing a range of difficulties, emotional distress and/or mental illness.
Our Mental Health Nurses are employed jointly across our Five Parks Primary Care Network (click here for more information about PCNs) and they can help all the patients registered at any of those four practices.
District Nurses & Health Visitors
The District Nurses provide nursing support to patients who are unable to attend surgery. Patients who are confined to their homes and need nursing assistance may arrange with their doctor for a district nurse to call.
The Health Visitors provide all aspects of health surveillance for babies and their families. They hold weekly child health clinics at all sites and can give advice on health care, particularly for expectant mothers and small children under the age of five. If you have a problem affecting your health or your child’s health, they can signpost you to sources of help.
These Nursing Staff are employed by Bradford District Care Foundation Trust. They cover all our branches and referrals are automatically generated by clinical staff when required or during the registration process.
GP Registrars and Medical Students
At The Ridge Medical Practice, we are dedicated to training the next generation of healthcare professionals. We provide specialised training for GPs, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Healthcare Support Workers in the unique skills required for General Practice.
Our GP Registrars are doctors who have completed their hospital training and are now gaining further experience to become fully qualified General Practitioners.
We also welcome Medical Students and Nursing Students who are training to become doctors and clinicians. Their presence often enriches the experience for both our patients and the students.
Patients will always be informed if a student is observing during their consultation. If you prefer not to have a student present, please let us know.
General Practitioners (GPs)
Our Doctors are highly skilled general practitioners (GPs) who can treat all common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. When you need to see one of our highly skilled GPs these are the friendly faces you could meet during your appointment.
Our Non-Clinical Team
Finally, but by no means least, our non-clinical team is led by our management team, headed up by:
Business Manager: Liz Brook
Liz focuses on the strategic, financial and commercial performance of the practice, leading on contracts, income optimisation, workforce planning, and long-term sustainability. Liz works closely with partners and system stakeholders to drive transformation, growth and compliance while ensuring the practice is well-positioned for future challenges.
Practice Manager: Janet Pattinson
Janet has overall responsibility for the operational aspects of the practice. Focussing on maintaining high levels of patient service and satisfaction, improving access to the practice and implementing new ways of working and technological developments. Janet also works closely with the Patient Participation Group, the Practice Health Champions, to enable them to give valuable feedback and input to the practice’s health outcome objectives.
Administration Staff
We employ around 100 administration staff working across all four of our sites.
They represent a committed and hardworking team, here to support the clinical team on the front line, working in Reception, Secretarial teams, Finance and HR. All our staff are involved in continual professional training. Please remember that they are also bound by the same code of confidentiality as our GPs and nursing team.
