Extended Care Services
In addition to our core medical services the Ridge Medical Practice also offer several other specialist services for patients from across all of Bradford who can be referred to see a GP with Extended Roles (GPwERs).
GPs with Extended Roles (GPwERs) undertake roles that are beyond the scope of GP training and require additional training. The benefit of having specialist services in community settings, rather than having long wait times to see a consultant in the hospital, for everything outside of a GP’s scope, are that some conditions can be managed more quickly and conveniently by GPs who have extra speciality training, knowledge and skills in certain conditions and services.
The Ridge Medical Practice currently accept referrals in from across Bradford for the following conditions management and services:
- Musculoskeletal services (MSK)
- Dermatology (in partnership with Trust Primary Care)
- Neurology
- Vasectomy
- Minor Surgery
- Joint Injection
- Level 2 diabetes
Please speak to your GP or other clinician if you believe you may benefit from a referral to one of these services. The clinics are held at Cousen Road, Buttershaw, Westwood Park Treatment Centre, and Ashcroft Surgery.

Bradford Community Adult Epilepsy Service
The Ridge is also home to the Bradford Epilepsy service.
We provide an accessible community-based service throughout the whole of Bradford & Airedale to support people with epilepsy and their families. Our aim is to improve the quality of life and safety of our patients using a holistic and person-centred approach to their care.
We liaise closely with GP surgeries, hospital services, care homes and day centre’s as well as learning disability and mental health teams to ensure seamless high-quality packages of care.
We offer epilepsy awareness and Buccal Midazolam training for carers within the Bradford and Airedale locality, free of charge to promote high quality care provision for all our patients.
